Registered Veterinary Nurses
Kirsty Boam FdSc RVN (Head Nurse)
Kirsty started working at the practice when she was 15 years old as a Saturday girl. After completing her studies at school, she applied to do her Veterinary Nurse training at Nottingham Trent University. Kirsty qualified in 2015 and returned to the practice in 2016. She was promoted to Deputy Head nurse and then Head nurse in 2021.
Kirsty, along with Helena embarked on a volunteering mission to Zimbabwe in 2024. Whilst there, they assisted the team with Rhino’s, elephants, enclosure management and community support. They stopped off at Victoria Falls on the way back!
In her spare time, Kirsty enjoys riding her pony, Paddy, entertaining her rescue cats, Nigel and Betty and training her Labrador, Poppy. She also enjoys holidays to Greece.
Amy Miller RVN (Deputy Head Nurse)
Amy became part of the Spire Vets team in August 2011. Before joining us, she worked as a riding instructor, combining her love of animals with teaching.
She began her veterinary journey by completing her Veterinary Care Assistant qualification with the College of Animal Welfare, before going on to train as a Veterinary Nurse with Bottle Green Training. In 2021, Amy proudly qualified as a Registered Veterinary Nurse. Today, she plays a key role in supporting and training our student nurses, while also enjoying every aspect of her role — with a particular passion for running senior clinics.
Outside of work, Amy lives with her fiancé, son, and much-loved dog Frank. She spends her free time riding her horse Fletcher or heading out for countryside walks with Frank.

Nikki Mason
Nikki has been part of the Spire Vets team for many years, first joining as a Saturday girl before officially starting at the practice in September 2002. Her long-standing experience and friendly nature make her a familiar and welcoming face to both clients and their pets.
Outside of work, Nikki enjoys ice skating and all kinds of dance. At home, she keeps busy with family life, living with her fiancé, children, and her much-loved cat, Stewart.
